Promote your to-go, takeout, and delivery alcohol and food; promote online gift card sales

Note: We created several new pages and promotions the week of March 16 because of the damaging effects Covid-19 is having on bars, restaurants, beer stores, and breweries throughout the world.

Our hope is that by granting greater access to the traffic on BeerMenus.com and within our apps, we’ll be able to provide struggling businesses another marketing channel to help them get through this and out onto the other side.

What new settings are there?

Your BeerMenus business page has always had a settings page. It’s where you’ve added your address, your hours, your website, and so forth.

Now you can also use this page to add information about your to-go beer, wine, and/or spirits, takeout food, delivery availability, and gift cards.

Here’s a look at the new section:

How can I add my to-go/delivery/gift card information?

Step 1: Sign in to your BeerMenus account.

Step 2: Visit the update menu page for the business for which you’d like to add to-go, delivery, or gift card information. Your update menu page is where you go when you need to update your beer list.

Step 3: At the top of your update menu page, you’ll see several tabs. By default, the “Menu” tab will be selected. Select the “Settings” tab:

Step 4: Make sure your hours are up-to-date! These will be at the top of your settings page:

Step 5: Scroll down to the section called “Promote beer to-go, takeout food, delivery, and gift cards”:

Step 6: Fill out the checkboxes and fields there:

The options and fields here are pretty straightforward (we include instructions where necessary), but please keep in mind we conceived, created, and launched this extremely quickly, so if anything is unclear or you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

You can email support@beermenus.com, call 347-927-1574, or start a chat by clicking the blue bubble in the lower right portion of your Update Menu screen.

What happens when I add my to-go/delivery/gift card information?

This information will be spread across BeerMenus in a couple different ways.

1. Promotion on your public-facing BeerMenus page

If you follow the steps above and update your settings to say you offer to-go or delivery, we’re going to make it extremely obvious that’s the case on your public page.

This is true on both your desktop and mobile public page. Here’s how it looks on desktop:

And here’s how it looks on mobile:

As you can see, you can also add a link to your website so that people can head straight there to buy gift cards.

2. To-go/delivery page

We launched this page on Friday, March 20.

We created is as a response to Covid-19 and the havoc it's wreaking on the bar and restaurant industry. Many bars and restaurants have already been forced to only offer to-go food and drink. The rest will likely be dealing with that situation soon.

By default, this page will list all businesses who’ve identified on BeerMenus that they offer to-go, takeout, or delivery services for

Users who get to the page will be able to filter the results on the page in order to hone in on what they’re looking for:

  • All nearby businesses offering to-go or delivery
  • All nearby business offering to-go
  • All nearby business offering delivery

A visitor can select one of these options—e.g “Takeout only”—and they’ll see a list of businesses nearest them that offer food, beer, wine, and/or spirits to-go.

How will users get to this information?

We’re starting off with a 4-pronged approach here, but please know that this is only the beginning. If you have ideas for other ways we could promote this page, please tell us. You can send an email to support@beermenus.com or give us a call at 347-927-1574.

1. We’re linking to these pages in our newsfeed emails

Consumers with a BeerMenus account receive email notifications about BeerMenus updates near them. We send these emails every day.

Starting Tuesday, March 24, every single one of these emails will include a link to the page highlighting local businesses who offer to-go, takeout, and/or delivery.

2. Site-wide banner

Starting Thursday, March 19, every single page on BeerMenus—including mobile, desktop, and apps—will include a banner promo that will send folks to the the page highlighting the local businesses near them who offer to-go, takeout, and/or delivery.

3. Google search

We dug into recent search data and found that “to go beer” and “beer to go” are trending on Google. That means people are looking for places that sell beer to go.

We kept that research in mind when we created this brand new page and structured it so that it ranks well for searches of this kind.

When Google indexes this page (which should happen by Friday, March 27), we’ll begin showing up at—or near—the top of the Google search results for these and related Google searches.

4. Social media posts

As soon as these pages are live, we’re going to post to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter daily to drive more traffic to the pages. Look out for that, and if you’d like us to specifically tag your business in these posts, please just let us know!

Frequently asked questions

Does this promotion cost anything?

Nope. For what should be obvious reasons.

So can people order to-go and delivery through BeerMenus?

Nope, but we provide you a place to paste in any menu URL you'd like. You can link to your own website, EatStreet, GrubHub, UberEats...anything you'd like. This will allow people to find you on BeerMenus, then easily place an order.

Why is this now available on BeerMenus?

Because of Covid-19 and the damaging effects it’s having on bars, restaurants, beer stores, and breweries throughout the world. Our hope is that by granting greater access to our traffic, we’ll be able to provide struggling businesses another marketing channel.
