How to: add beers, wines, and spirits to the database

In order to add a beer, wine, or spirit to your BeerMenus page, it must first exist in the database. Use this document to add new items to the relevant databases—after you do, you’ll be able to add it to your menu!

What’s new?

The short story is that we now have and maintain three separate databases (instead of a single database for all beverage types). These databases are:

• Beer
• Wine
• Spirits

Adding a Beer to the Database

Follow these easy steps to add a beer to the BeerMenus beer database:

1. Navigate to your update menu page
2. Click the "Beer" tab
3. Type the name of the beer you want to add (including brewery name)
4. Click the blue “Beer not listed? Add to database” promo in the dropdown beneath the beer name field
5. Fill in as much information about the beer as you can. Aside from the beer name, the only required addition is selecting the brewery.
6. Click “Add to database”

Adding a Wine to the Database

Follow these easy steps to add a wine to the BeerMenus wine database:

1. Navigate to your update menu page
2. Click the "Wine" tab
3. Type the name of the wine you want to add (including winery name)
4. Click the blue “Wine not listed? Add to database” promo in the dropdown beneath the wine name field
5. Fill in as much information about the wine as you can. AAside from the wine name, the only required addition is selecting the winery.
6. Click “Add to database”

Adding a Spirit to the Database

Follow these easy steps to add a wine to the BeerMenus wine database:

1. Navigate to your update menu page
2. Click the "Spirit" tab
3. Type the name of the spirit you want to add (including the distillery/producer’s name)
4. Click the blue “Spirit not listed? Add to database” promo in the dropdown beneath the spirit name field
5. Fill in as much information about the wine as you can. Aside from the spirit name, the only required addition is selecting the distillery.
6. Click “Add to database”

What if the brewery, winery, or distillery/producer isn’t in the database?

You can add it super easily!

When you make it to step 5 in any of the above step-by-steps, just click the blue “Brewery/Winery/Distillery not listed? Add it to the database” promo in the dropdown. Add all the information you can—only the location name (e.g. Madison, WI) is required.
